About Us
At Claddagh School of Irish Dance, we believe that Irish dance is more than just steps – it’s a journey of confidence, creativity, culture, and community.
Since opening in 2008, we have proudly guided dancers on their journey, from their very first class to international competitions and world stages. Whether dancing for fun, performance, or competition, every student is valued and celebrated in our vibrant, family-friendly community.
Why Families Choose Claddagh
Expert Leadership That Nurtures Every Stage of Growth
At Claddagh, we believe in supporting every dancer’s journey - from their very first steps to becoming confident performers and even future teachers. Our director, Miss Colette, leads with a passion for developing confident, resilient dancers and inspiring the next generation of Irish dance educators.
Through our dedicated Student Teacher Program, aspiring instructors receive hands-on mentoring, leadership opportunities, and the skills needed to guide younger dancers with care and professionalism.
Opportunities to Shine
As proud members of the World Irish Dance Association (WIDA), our dancers have the opportunity to perform and compete locally, nationally, and internationally. Through WIDA’s structured examination syllabus, dancers are guided through clear, achievable goals that support skill development and open pathways to future teaching qualifications.
In addition to competitions and exams, our dancers regularly participate in community performances, sharing their love of Irish dance at local events, festivals, and special celebrations. These experiences help build confidence, develop stage presence, and foster a strong connection with the wider community.
A highlight of our dance year is the Annual Concert, where all dancers come together to perform for family and friends. This cherished event celebrates the achievements of every student, from our youngest beginners to our most experienced performers, and creates lifelong memories for our Claddagh families.
A Proven Path to Excellence
Claddagh dancers have achieved remarkable success on both national and international stages. We are proud to have produced four World Solo Champions and celebrated seven National Title winners - a testament to the expert guidance, supportive environment, and high-quality training our studio provides.
Whether a dancer’s goal is to perform for the joy of it or to compete at the highest levels, every student at Claddagh receives the same expert guidance and high-quality training to support their personal journey.
A Family-Focused and Positive Environment
We create a nurturing, inclusive space where lifelong friendships are formed, and every dancer is encouraged to thrive at their own pace. Our focus is on building confidence and creating a positive, uplifting environment where every success is celebrated.
A Holistic Approach
Our curriculum goes beyond dance technique. We foster personal growth, resilience, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for Irish culture, language, and history, while prioritising safe dance practices that support healthy movement and reduce injury risk.
