FAQ's - about our dance school and Irish dancing
At Claddagh, we specialise in Irish dance classes for dancers of all ages and abilities in Mackay, Marian and also virtually. We have three streams of programs - Our preschool Jump’n Jig classes for dancers aged 18 months to 5 years old, our curriculum classes for children aged 6 to 17 year old and our adult program for dancers 18 and beyond!
We offer softshoe classes where dancers can learn traditional and modern solo as well as group (Ceili) dances.
We also offer hardshoe classes where dancers learn how to use their feet rhythmically in both traditional and modern styles.
If you go to our enrolment page and click the 'Enrol Today' button you will be sent through to the sign up page for dance studio pro. Simply create an account by filling out the info and selecting 'add a student' or 'I take classes' - Depending if you are signing up for Irish dance classes or signing your child up. After creating your dance account you can then select to enrol between our 16 different class options. We recommend if you are unsure which Irish dance class is right for you, that you reach out to us through our 'Contact Us' page or by using our contact info. We are more than ready to help find the right Irish dance class for you!
There’s definitely a knack to tying Irish dance shoes, but once you know how, it’s easy! We’re happy to show you in person, and you can also download our Shoe Tie Guide for step-by-step instructions. Just remember - never wear your shoes outside the studio, as this can cause damage!
The most important things to bring to class are:
Uniform
Socks and shoes
Water bottle
We recommend all dancers have a bag to keep all their equipment in for class (making it easy to grab and go each week!) We have complied a list to help you pack your first dance bag - if you have any additional suggestions, please let us know!
