Claddagh School of Irish Dance Australia was established in 2008 and is the only Irish dance school in North Queensland to offer curriculum-based programs for toddlers, children and adults at our Mackay and Marian studios.
In 2021, we proudly became the first Irish dance school in Queensland to hold a soloist World Championship title with Sarah Purnell being crowned the U27 World Irish Dance Association Digital World Champion.
Our aim is to ensure all dancers achieve their full potential, whether it is to dance competitively or socially, in a positive learning environment. We pride ourselves on training well-rounded dancers who are given a holistic education in culture and language along with traditional and modern Irish dance styles. We provide performance opportunities, examinations, workshops as well as a highly-effective teacher training program. All classes are under the direction of a fully-qualified Irish dance teacher, adjudicator and examiner with a degree in early childhood education. We were one of the first Irish dance schools in Australia to offer the accredited Jump'n Jig Pre-school Program for dancers aged 18 months - 5 years as well as our progressive, technical classes for beginners through to our World Championship level dancers.
